Stephen’s work is rooted in a meticulous understanding of how buildings come together, and how form, structure, and intention align to create environments that feel meaningful and refined. His academic training at the University of Illinois at Chicago, and later at The Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia in Spain, strengthened this approach by expanding his capabilities in advanced 3D modeling, digital fabrication, and the cultural dimensions of design. His architectural career in Chicago’s corporate scene accelerated his technical and managerial experience across industrial campuses, high‑rise residential projects, and flagship retail environments, building a foundation of complex problem solving.

In 2021, Stephen and his wife founded Coorlas Architecture to bring that rigor directly to homeowners and boutique retail clients. Today, his work in luxury residences and creative commercial spaces is widely recognized for its cohesion, cultural sensitivity, and meticulous attention to detail. Clients seek out Stephen largely for his passion and attention to detail, but also for a partner who deeply interprets how lifestyle specifics translate into concise, intentional design solutions.

Coorlas Architecture is guided by the Greek principle of Symmetria (συμμετρία), expressing harmony between form, function, and meaning. This philosophy shapes every project, ensuring spatial, cultural, technical, and emotional elements work together cohesively. It’s the reason clients trust Stephen to steward their custom home projects, investments, and environments with a level of care that feels elevated and personal.

Outside of practice, Stephen draws inspiration from traveling and exploring with his wife and four children - A continual source of perspective that informs his work and life pursuits.
